Nagpur Diaries . Saira

Saira

Saira a woman from the lower caste Harijan. She used to sew clothes on commission to full fill her daily needs and for the education of his little child Aaakash. All  the time he saw clouds of sadness on her face , her figure is  as lean as a reed, hollow and dry. She lives with her drunkard husband in a near by compartment ,who used to drink at any time especially at mornings and come to his rented flat in a fit of anger to harass and abuse his wife Saira.

He thought that he will teach Aakash who is in first standard at St. John School, but his friend Roy told him that  the husband of Saira will accuse that He has illicit relations with Saira. Once he thought that he will enquire from Saira about the daily routine of abusing of her husband but Anie told him that it will cut a sorry figure of him ,if he will do so. Saira will think otherwise and will tell  her husband about the enquiry. From that day he never thought about the Screaming  neighborhood.
Whenever he saw Saira  with her husband on his motor bike, he does not believe that even though everyday there is everday shouting to her she is used of to move on her life with a drunkard. Often  little Aakash also hates his father;   is glued  with his father’s back on the bike like a baby monkey with his mother’s tummy while on the way to drop him to school and tuitions.
